The incident took place around 10:44 p.m., Monday, April 1, when troopers were dispatched to the area of 287 Somers Road, in the town of Somers for the report of attempted larceny, Connecticut State Police said.
According to the 9-1-1 call made to police, a full-size pick-up truck approached the United Bank ATM kiosk and began ramming the ATM kiosk repeatedly, state police said.
During this incident, the driver exited the vehicle in an attempt to allegedly commit larceny but was unsuccessful.
The man then fled the scene in what is believed to be a 2000 GMC 2500 extended cab, state police said.
The driver’s side rear quarter panel area was witnessed to have sustained moderate damage and the rear left taillight was broken as a result of the attempt to ram the ATM. The structure which housed the ATM also sustained extensive damage, they added.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Troop C at 860-896-3200 and speak to Trooper Ryan Cloukey. Calls can be made anonymously.
